Jail, probation handed out for church arsonists

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) ? Three people were sentenced Wednesday for torching a northeast Bakersfield church.

Abel Schull, 20, Shaya Roam, 20, and Tori Aleman, 18, stole a computer and musical instruments last July from Valley View Church and then set fire to the church's sanctuary.

A tip led to their arrests in January. They subsequently took plea deals from Kern County prosecutors.

Schull was sentenced to a year in jail, three years probation and was ordered to register as an arson offender. Roam got nine months in jail and three years probation. Aleman got six months in jail, along with the same term of probation.
